Step One of the Strategic Prevention Framework: Assessment
Assessment, the first step of the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), involves identifying local prevention needs based on data.
Dr. Karen Moses, who serves as director of Wellness and Health Promotion at Arizona State University, refers to Assessment as the “foundation for planning” during her video.
“By starting with assessment, we can set aside our assumptions and plan according to the reality that's shown in the data,” Karen explained.
And when it comes to data, the more focused it is on your school, the better.
“Keep in mind that national data, while it can be very useful, cannot help you understand the nuanced experiences of your own students,” she said.
